Inside the envelope was a handwritten letter from my husband.
I recognized his messy handwriting immediately.
My hands were shaking so badly I almost ripped the paper trying to open it.
The letter said he’d been worried about Leo for a long time. That he loved his son, but knew exactly how selfish he could be when money got involved.
Then I got to the last part.
“I already changed the ownership of the house six months ago.”
I stopped breathing for a second.
Because underneath the letter was another document with my name on it.
The house wasn’t half Leo’s.
It wasn’t even partially his anymore.
And judging by the sound of the front door slamming downstairs, he had just found out too.
